Dr. Schatz grew up outside Philadelphia in Kennett Square, PA (Longwood Gardens, the Mushroom Festival) earned her undergraduate degree magna-cum-laude at Messiah College. She then attended The Medical School for International Health at Ben-Gurion University in Beer Sheva, Israel, where she studied medicine as well as, cross-cultural medical care, with emphasis on international and resource poor settings. She then moved to Waterbury, CT for residency in general surgery at Waterbury Hospital, affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine. She then trained in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, including robotic surgery, at Fox Chase Cancer Center, affiliated with Temple University. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). Dr. Schatz maintains membership in the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. She relocated to the DMV in 2017, and lives with her handsome husband and three beloved children.
